Teaching your puppy the “leave” command
by using the positive method.
Remember that the positive method is based on reinforcing good behaviour. It is based on respect, kindness, analysis and understanding of canine behaviour.
The aim is to work on the dog’s motivation and cooperation.
On a walk, the puppy is attracted by walkers, objects on the ground…
Say the name of the puppy + the word “leave”. As soon as the puppy turns its head towards you, give it a treat.
Repeat the exercise regularly.
As soon as your dog looks at you and is interested in you when you say “leash”, he has understood the logic and is entitled to his reward.
Increase the level of difficulty as you go along using the 3D rule.
