Teaching your puppy the “at the foot” command
by using the positive method.
Remember that the positive method is based on reinforcing good behaviour. It is based on respect, kindness, analysis and understanding of canine behaviour.
The aim is to work on the dog’s motivation and cooperation.
First, get to a quiet place without distractions.
We can start the exercise.
Say the name of the puppy + the word “at the foot” + a gesture with your hand (closed hand holding a kibble) + you walk a few seconds saying “at the foot”.
The puppy follows you, rewarding him with your voice.
You stop and raise your hand above his head. The puppy sits, reward him with a kibble and voice.
Repeat the exercise several times.
You continue the exercise but without kibble in your hand. Reward them at the end of the exercise.
Increase the level of difficulty as you go along using the 3D rule.
